By May 11, 2017September 13th, 2019Blog

Finally, the summer has come around, and it’s time for you to take a well-deserved break from your studies. But where should you go? At The Big Sail, we’ve compiled this list of holiday destinations for students so that you can make an informed decision on where you think the best place will be for you and your friends this year.

  1. Party in Ibiza

It’s no secret that Ibiza has been known as the ultimate party destination for decades and this is still one of the main reasons that students choose it for their summer holiday. Despite it being a small island, some of the world’s best clubs can be found in Ibiza, but a summer break here doesn’t have to be all about partying. There is a huge choice of beaches and plenty of opportunity for sightseeing, not to mention the good weather that’s surprisingly only a 2-hour flight away from the UK.

  1. Enjoy the beaches in Magaluf

Those looking for somewhere where they can soak up the rays and get some well-deserved rest should consider Magaluf as their next holiday destination. Situated on the Spanish island of Majorca, the summer brings glorious weather and 30C heat, a perfect combination if you want to top up your tan. Adventurous types can try their hand at a wide variety of watersports available such as jet skiing, scuba diving or windsurfing and the town is filled with restaurants and bars that serve a range of international cuisines.

  1. Go clubbing in Crete

Crete is the biggest island in Greece meaning that it boasts 650 miles of coastline, many of which are blue flag beaches. With a rich history, it has plenty of sights to interest any budding historian, many of which are framed by unspoilt scenery such as rocky coves, hilltop villages and breathtaking mountains. A holiday in Crete is perfect for those who want to spend time relaxing but who don’t want to be too far from a town with a vibrant nightlife.

  1. Explore the islands of Croatia

If you’re looking for a holiday where you can truly get away from it all then consider the islands of Cres and Losinj in Croatia. These areas are relatively untouched by tourism and offer a getaway rich with history where you can spend lazy days. Or sail in Croatia, from Split or Dubrovnik to Hvar and Korčula with the ideal combination of history, culture and nightlife where you can see 18th-century architecture alongside 21st-century comforts.

  1. Stay up late in Benidorm

The nightlife in Benidorm is one thing that attracts many students year after year, but that’s certainly not all that it has to offer. On holiday in Benidorm, you can reap the benefits of activities such as scuba diving and mountain hiking, and there are plenty of opportunities to snap some Instagram-worthy pictures. After all, Benidorm is often called the ‘Manhattan of Spain’ because of its impressive skyline. The place is a mixture of old and new, and although at times you’ll encounter a small village atmosphere, you can also embrace the buzz of a metropolitan city.
