Mooring fees, fuel & additional costs
We recommend that you prepare a ‘yacht kitty’ in cash which will be used to cover any daily usage costs you incur as a group throughout the week. These costs include mooring fees, refuelling at the end of the week, tourist tax of €1 per person per day (Croatia only) and an optional yacht insurance waiver to cover you in case of any damage to your yacht.
Mooring fees can vary dramatically based on the size and type of yacht (catamarans get charged double for mooring in most marinas in peak season). We typically recommend 3 nights in a marina and 2 nights at anchor in a ‘normal’ week. Anchoring is free, so if you wish to reduce costs we recommend more anchorages and fewer marinas.
Similarly, refuelling costs can vary depending on the size of yacht, as well as how much motoring you do which is largely dependant on the wind conditions, and the distances you aim to cover during your trip. Yachts with generators onboard to power air-conditioning systems could use up to £150 more fuel per week.
